CSIR Labs are publicly funded largest scientific and industrial research  organization in the world.These CSIR Labs in India playing key role in fighting against COVID-19.CSIR has devised a five-pronged strategy as described below in the fight against Covid-19. To implement the strategy effectively, CSIR has partnered with a number of academic institutions on one hand, and with industrial partners on the other. As in any crisis situation, the fight has to be monitored closely from the highest level, and in this regard a high powered committee meets every evening at 6 pm to take stock of the situation closely. Moreover, CSIR is continuously holding meetings with its constituent laboratories, industrial partners and other Ministries/Departments to chalk out well planned strategies like creation of five verticals, development of medical equipment like ventilators, open source platform etc. to fight the menace of Covid-19.

The five verticals to fight COVID-19 are :

• Surveillance, including Digital Methods: to Understand the Genetic Basis and Develop Strategy to Combat COVID-19;
• Rapid and Cheap Diagnosis: Kits Based on DNA and Serological Basis to Diagnose the Virus at an Early Stage;
• Development of New Therapies, including Repurposing of Drugs and New Drugs: Vaccine Development;
• Hospital Assistive Devices;
• Supply Chainand Logistics;
